I find myself wondering why I feel so humorless compared to everyone laughing around me, sometimes. But it's so often because everything considered funny in the mainstream seems to be at the expense of someone else, and I don't find that funny at all. Anyone know of some outstandingly funny people who criticize their own -isms (or other social commentary) in a way that draws laughs and enlightenment at the same time (without resorting to other -isms to do so)? I think that we really need to find a place where our collective humor isn't dependent upon systems of oppression. Because if something is boring if it isn't sexist, racist, fatphobic, ageist, ableist, etc-- thats fucked up, and it needs to change. Right on.
